Premieres

Pianist and dedicatee Kurt Carpenter premiered Robert Boury’s Three Poetics for piano on January 17, 2005, at the University of Montevallo (AL) in a recital sponsored by the Birmingham Art Music Alliance (BAMA). On April 17, the Etesian Winds premiered their commissioned work Duel’n Woodwinds for woodwind quintet at First United Methodist Church, Conway, AR. Commissioned for their tour of England, the work was subsequently performed May 12, Second Presbyterian Church, Little Rock, AR; May 18, Haywards Heath (U.K.) Methodist Church; and May 20, St. Peter’s Church, East Blatchington, Seaford, U.K.

Performances

The Community Orchestra of Little Rock (AR), under the direction of Victor Ellsworth, played Toy Symphony on March 12, 2005, University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Soprano Jeanie Darnell, accompanied by Cindy Fuller, presented the song cycle Sleeping in the Forest on a March 29 Faculty Recital at Quachita Baptist University, in Arkadelphia, AR.

Publications

C.F. Peters released the composer’s Inter-American Music commission, To Dream Again (settings from The Tempest by William Shakespeare which are dedicated to soprano Ruth Sieber Johnson).
