The 2007 American Composers Update

Premieres

The Kentucky All-State Symphonic Band, led by Ray Cramer, premiered Empire (commissioned by PSI Chapter of Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity) on February 11, 2006. The 130-piece Association of Concert Bands Convention Band, under the direction of Colonel Arnald D. Gabriel, introduced the commissioned work Journey Through Orion on May 6, in Williamsport, PA. Primality, a work for six percussionists and wind band, was premiered by the Louisiana State University Wind Ensemble on September 26, in a performance conducted by Frank B. Wickes. Honor Above All, the third movement of the commissioned symphony No Finer Calling, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the United States Air Force, was first presented on December 19 in a USAF Band performance in Washington, DC, conducted by Colonel Gabriel.
