The 2007 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 99, Number 2 Linda Robbins Coleman***** Linda Robbins Coleman celebrates thirteen years of membership on the Cedar Rapids (IA) Symphony Orchestra’s Artistic Committee as it celebrates the inaugural season of new Music Director Timothy Hankewich. In 2006, the number of orchestra and chamber ensembles who have performed Coleman’s music exceeded sixty within the United States, representing more than two dozen states. Her latest debuts were in New Jersey with the Garden State Philharmonic and Indiana with the Columbus Philharmonic. Coleman also served as a consultant and provided editorial services for the Central Iowa Repertory Theatre during its premiere season. Her article, Remembering Thomas Jerome Anderson, and her poem, I Will Meet You in the Music, both appeared in the Conductors Guild Podium Notes, volume 27, number 4. She is currently completing commissions for string orchestra, chamber ensemble, and a piano duet. Her music is licensed through BMI, Inc. Orchestras with BMI licenses enjoy cheaper rates on rentals. A Symphonic Jubilee, was performed twice in October 2006 by the Cedar Rapids (IA) Symphony under the direction of Henry Charles Smith. In November, the University of Northern Iowa Horn Choir, under the direction of Thomas Tritle, performed Fanfare and Celebration for horn octet and two percussion. Hibernia Suite for string orchestra was performed by the Langham Creek Orchestra led by Kirk Smith, in Houston, TX, both on a spring concert and on tour to the Field Museum in Chicago, IL. Selections from two CDs, Rags to Riches and Journeys, continue to receive numerous performances on public radio stations throughout Iowa and the USA.
