The 2007 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 99, Number 2 Ralph R. GuentherAfter holding a teaching post in Theory, Composition, and Flute at Texas Christian University for 32 years, Dr. Guenther and his wife Lavonne have lived in Seattle, WA for the past 19 years. Regularly recognized in Pan Pipes since 1955, the composer recently celebrated his 92nd birthday. Performances In March 2006, Sonata for Violoncello Alone was played in recital by Sally Guenther (for whom the sonata was composed) at the International Chamber Music Festival in Bergen, Norway, on a program which also featured composers from Austria and Norway. Recently, in Olympia, WA, Song of the Bard for five flutes was presented by the North West Flute Consort, in a performance given in the rotunda of the State Capitol. Further Information |
