The 2007 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 99, Number 2 Thom Ritter George Thom Ritter George’s First Suite in F for band, published by Southern Music Company, continues to receive many performances. Currently, the composer is putting the finishing touches on Legend, for flute and orchestra, and Concerto for Horn, also with orchestra. Both works are scheduled to premiere during the 2006-2007 concert season. Premieres Legend, CN 357, was introduced on December 7, 2006, by flutist Patricia George and the Brigham Young University-Idaho Symphony Orchestra, in a performance conducted by the composer, in Rexburg, ID. On April 18, 2007, the composer will conduct Alexander George and the Idaho State Civic Symphony in the premiere of Concerto for Horn, CN 358. Performances David Popper’s Hungarian Rhapsody op. 68, transcribed by the composer for flute and piano, was presented on April 22, 2006, by flutist Patricia George and pianist Lannette Calhoun, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Cimarosa Suite, CN 332, was heard in recital on August 5, at the Pocatello (ID) Flute Spa. Further Information
