The 2007 American Composers Update

Wallace De Pue**

Wallace De Pue was honored on the American Masters Concert Series in Hamilton, OH on March 5, 2006, by an entire afternoon featuring performances of his compositions. Performers included: conductor Paul Stanbery and the Hamilton/Fairfield Symphony, David Bell and the Winton Wood High School Choir, soprano soloist Jennifer Accord, and violinist Zachary De Pue. Previous composers featured on the series were H. Owen Reed, Robert Ward, Thomas Benjamin, and James Niblock. DVD and VHS recordings of the American Masters Concert are available from Tri-State Productions, 333 Western Ave., Covington, KY, 41011. (859) 431-3069. The Wonderful Witch of Oz, his latest musical, is written on the subject of ecology and aimed at preschool children. His works have won awards at both state and national levels, and the composer has won 21 consecutive ASCAP awards. In 2006, Wallace De Pue was commissioned to compose a four-minute work for Karen Biscay, Choral Music Chair, Lourdes College (Toledo, OH), in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Lourdes College. At present, De Pue owns a publishing company known as Picardie Court Publications. Premieres

Soprano soloist Accord, and the Hamilton/Fairfield Symphony and Chorale under the direction of Stanbery, introduced The Bird, Frog and Tree Club; while the Hamilton JHS Orchestra presented Concerto for Percussion and Orchestra II, on March 5, 2006, at the American Masters Concert in Hamilton, OH.

Other works included on the March 5 American Masters Concert were: A Call from Home by violinist Zachary De Pue; and Old Time Religion by tenor John Lawson, and the Winton Woods High School Choir under the direction of David Bell.
