Alice Jordan
Alice Jordan makes her home in Des Moines, IA. Her arrangement
of
America the Beautiful, which is now on the Lion
& Fox Recording
Blessed is the Nation CD, with
the National Christian Choir, C. Harry Causey, producer
and conductor, was heard in a July 4, 1997 WOI-FM broadcast
with the Des Moines Children's Choruses and the Des Moines
Symphony, Eugene Wilson and Joseph Guinta, conductors,
at the Iowa state capitol. In 1997 her
Aria for Oboe
and Organ won Honorable Mention in the Mu Phi Epsilon
National Composition Contest. A new collection of her
organ preludes is in process at Genevox.
Performances
The Grand View Lutheran Church, in Des Moines, IA, rededicated
its Schantz organ with a recital including
Partita
on Foundation, played by Robert M. Speed, Apr. 7,
1997. In 1997 soprano Mary Elizabeth Williams sang
Go
Not Far for Beauty at the First Baptist Church, Philadelphia,
PA, with pianist Alan Morrison (Apr. 12); and at Luther
College, Decorah, IA, with pianist Jon Spong (Apr. 20).
John Corina and Deborah Henson performed
Aria for Oboe
and Organ at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Athens, GA,
June 1, 1997. The Iowa Choral Directors' Association Convention,
held in Mason City, July 30, 1997, featured Randall Buikema
directing the Westminster Presbyterian Church Chorale,
of Des Moines, in
