Associate Jared Spears serves as Professor of Music
(composition) at Arkansas State University.
Premieres
BRAVO! was premiered at the Association
of Concert Bands International Convention in Lafayette,
LA on Apr. 5, 1996, with the composer conducting the
Convention Band. The first performance of A Kensington
Portrait was given by the Arkansas State University
Trombone Choir, conducted by Neal King Bartee, during
the May 1997 International Trombone Choir Festival at
the University of Illinois, in Champaign-Urbana. Commissioned
by the Barton County Community College and funded in
part by the Kansas Art Commission, Jubilation Overture
was introduced Sept. 27, 1997, during the college's
1997 Prairie Winds Honor Band Concert in Great Bend,
KS. The Adventurers, for symphonic band, will
be played first Feb. 7, 1998, with the Northeast Oklahoma
Band Directors Association Symphonic Honor Band, conducted
by the composer, in Tulsa.
