Annual American Composers Update

Richard Lane

Richard Lane lives and works in Paterson, NJ, and spends summers in Cape Cod, writing and accompanying singers and instrumentalists.

Premieres

On Apr. 18, 1997, the Ridgewood (NJ) Orpheus Male Chorus, under John Palatucci, presented A Clarification. Duo-pianists Lucy and Henry Ingram introduced Carolina Variations in Cincinnati, May 21, 1997. The Sutton Ensemble and Barbara Blegen premiered the piano quintet Something Slightly Spanish in Englewood, NJ, May 4, 1997.

Performances

Heard in 1997 with the Adelphi Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Ariel Rudiakov, were Adelphi Suite (Apr. 20) and Suite for Oboe, French Horn and Strings (Dec. 7). The Philadelphia Concerto Soloists played Suite for Oboe, French Horn and Strings in Philadelphia, June 1, 1997. On Aug. 20, 1997, Scott Slapin soloed in Nocturne for Viola and Piano in Orleans, MA. Palatucci led the Ridgewood Orpheus Male Chorus in Sing Unto the Lord, for TTBB choir, Dec. 12, 1997.
