Alice Jordan
Alice Jordan works at home in Des Moines, IA. In the Feb.
1998
Women of Note, an article, "Alice Jordan:
Chapters of a Musical Album," appeared, written by Dr.
Earline Moulder, chair of the organ department and College
Organist at Drury College, Springfield, MO. Jordan contributed
to the
St. Francis Collection of Free Organ Accompaniments
to Hymn Tunes, published by GIA. On May 25, 1998,
the Heartland Children's Choral Festival, held at the
Iowa State Capitol and the Des Moines Convention Center,
included the Heartland Massed Choir in Jordan's arrangement
of
America the Beautiful; and the All-Iowa Chorus
sang her commissioned hymn

Prof. Dennis Darling, guest conductor and Lois Harms,
pianist. In process at the Sacred Music Press is
The
Eighth Psalm, for SATB choir and organ.
Premieres
Festival Psalms, an SATB anthem with organ, commissioned
for the 150th anniversary of Central Presbyterian Church,
in Des Moines, premiered there June 7, 1998, with the
Chancel Choir, led by Robert M. Speed, and Harms.
The Eighth Psalm, an SATB anthem with organ, commissioned
by First Congregational Church, of Ann Arbor, MI for its
150th anniversary, had its first performance there Oct.
25, 1998, with organist Marilyn Mason and director Dean
Willis Patterson.
Performances
On May 10, 1998, Drury College organist Earline Moulder
played
Jubilation on Lauda Anima for the school's
baccalaureate. A special music service at First United
Methodist Church, with director Jon Spong and organist
Marcia Welch, included several of Jordan's organ and choral
works, May 17, 1998 in Iowa City, IA. Oboist Douglas Bakkum
and organist Robert Luther performed
Aria for Oboe
and Organ at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka, MN, Sept.
12-13, 1998, and will repeat the performance on Apr. 18,
1999.
