Augusta Read Thomas's Passions,
a ballet in five movements, premiered with the St. Paul
(MN) Chamber Orchestra, Keith Lockhart, conductor, and
the James Sewell Ballet Company, Oct. 2-4, 1998 at the
Ordway Theatre. Under the baton of Pierre Boulez, the
Chicago Symphony Orchestra presented Orbital Beacons,
a six-movement work for re-seated orchestra, Nov.27-Dec.
1, 1998, at Chicago's Symphony Center.
