Annual American Composers Update
Adelina Timofeyew
Adelina Timofeyew resides in Albuquerque, NM, where she
works as a music instructor and composer. In Mar. 1998,
she served as chair and judge for the National Federation
of Music Clubs Western Region/USA Junior Compositions
Competition. Six winners that she chose went on to receive
National Awards. She was profiled in the Mar. 1998 issue
of
Performa Magazine, New Mexico's magazine of
the performing arts. In 1998, Jane Ellen used recordings
of
Southwest Fantasia, for violin and piano, and
The Long Walk: Preludio, for flute, horn, cello,
piano, and percussion, in Music of the American Southwest
classes for a University of New Mexico ElderHostel (May
22), and for OASIS (July 21), both in Albuquerque.
Premieres
On Mar. 22, 1998, "The Fountain", from
Alvarado Suite,
was heard first at a New Mexico Women Composers' Guild
program, played by violinist Laura Gutman, violist Wilson
Barrett, and cellist Ketie Harlow, in Albuquerque. On
Feb. 17, 1998, the SAI Albuquerque Alumnae Chapter presented
Interlude, with pianist Jane Viemeister, on its
"Celebration of American Music Month" Program.
Performances
The same SAI program included the concert aria
And
early in the morning (text from St. John Chapter VIII,
2-11), with soprano Diana Reuler, violist Laura Dickinson,
and pianist Viemeister. The New Mexico Federation of Music
Clubs Annual Convention featured
Interlude, with
Viemeister, and
The Fountain, with Gutman, Barrett,
and Harlow, Apr. 24, 1998 in Albuquerque.
