Brian Fennelly
Brian Fennelly, of Kingston, NY, Professor Emeritus in
the New York University School of Arts and Science, continues
as Co-Director of the Washington Square Contemporary Music
Society, which he founded in 1976. The piano four-hand
version of
Empirical Rag won a Delius Festival
Performance Award.
Premieres
On July 24, 1998,
Sonata Serena, commissioned by
and dedicated to pianist Margaret Mills, was premiered
by her at the Bar Harbor (ME) Music Festival.
Performances
In 1998,
Empirical Rag, piano four-hand version,
was presented at Jacksonville (FL) University (Mar. 5);
and the solo piano version was played by Geoffrey Burleson
on the Phantom Arts series in Cambridge, MA (Jan. 24).
Saxophonist David Pituch included
Tesserae VIII
in recital at Northwestern University, in Evanston, IL,
July 13, 1998. Performances at Merkin Hall, New York,
NY, include
Reflected Arc, with oboist Marcia Butler
and pianist Eliza Garth, Dec. 12, 1997; and
Divisions,
with violinist Curt Macomber, scheduled for Mar. 22, 1999.
