Eric Funk
Eric Funk, who makes his home in Bozeman,
MT, conducts the Helena (MT) Symphony Orchestra and
composes commissioned scores. The Charles Osgood Sunday
Morning television show (CBS) aired an interview with
him in Sept. 1998. In 1999, premieres are expected
of A Sacred Service, at the Vatican (June);
and the New York premiere of Symphony No. 4,
at Carnegie Hall (May). Besides these compositions,
new works and works in progress include concertos
for piano and violin; the opera Gorbachev and Yeltsin;
Dante: Canto X Paradiso, for tenor and trombone
choir; and Góngora, for baritone and chamber
orchestra. Composer of over 80 works, including 25
commissions, he has received his 8th ASCAP Standard
Award.
Premieres
Funk's Symphony No. 4 premiered
with the Warsaw (Poland) Philharmonic, under the baton
of Jerzy Swoboda.
