Annual American Composers Update
Eugenie R. Rocherolle
Eugenie R. Rocherolle lives in Wilton,
CT. She was featured composer or convention clinician
at the National Piano Pedagogy Conference Publishers
Showcase, Oct. 16, 1997, in Cherry Hill, NJ; at the
Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association meeting, Nov.
9, 1997, in Slippery Rock, PA; and at the Music Teachers
National Association convention Publishers Showcase,
March 29, 1998, in Nashville, TN. In the 1998 National
League of American Pen Women Biennial Music Contest,
her piano solo
Cuatro Rumores Hispanicos won
third place. She appeared in print in
Baker's Biographical
Dictionary of 20th Century Classical Musicians and
as featured composer in the May/June 1998 issue of
Piano
Explorer magazine. The Darien (CT) Community Association
awarded her a commission to compose a suite of two-piano
pieces to commemorate its 50th year in 1999. On a program
at the First Presbyterian Church in Stamford, CT, Nov.
23, 1997, the Schubert Club Duo-Pianists performed her
two-piano eight-hand arrangement of
Workin' on the
Railroad. Her piano arrangements
Christmas Joy
were published by
Neil
A. Kjos Music Co. She received a 1998-99 ASCAP Standard
Award.
Premieres
On March 29, 1998, the piano trio version
of On Eagles' Wings was heard first at the Music
Teachers National Convention in Nashville, TN, with
the Baton Rouge Chamber Music Players. At the Hoff-Barthelson
Music School in Scarsdale, NY, Rita Lapcevic and Rocherolle
premiered Blues Concerto in C for two pianos.
Performances
Rocherolle and Lapcevic played Waltz
for the Pianos and Blues Concerto in C at
the Connecticut Pioneer Branch of the National League
of American Pen Women, April 24, 1998, in Wilton, CT.
