Harold Schiffman
Harold Schiffman, Professor Emeritus
at the Florida State University School of Music, in
Tallahassee, spends summer, fall, and early winter in
Robbinsville, NC, and the rest of the year in Tallahassee.
Premieres
The Southeastern Composers' League annual
meeting, held at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte,
included Rebekah Binford in the first performance of
Sonata for Solo Violin (1993), Mar. 26, 1998.
On Aug. 2, 1998 at a Robbinsville Community Concert
Series program in honor of his 70th birthday, Lois and
Michael Schultz premiered 12 excerpts from Twenty-Five
Duets for Two Oboes (1994).
Performances
On the same program, pianist Jane Perry-Camp
played Fantasy for Piano (1966), Binford and
Michael Schultz performed Divertimento (Amantium
Irae) for Violin and Oboe (1983), and Binford and
Perry-Camp presented Sonata for Violin and Piano
(1976).
