SAI Friend of the Arts Jeremy Beck is Assistant Professor
of Composition and Theory at the University of Northern
Iowa.
Premieres
At the National Flute Association Convention, in Phoenix,
Angeleita Floyd led a flute choir in the premiere of
Conjuring
the Spirits (1998). Elizabeth Sadilek, flute, and
Gretchen Johnson, harp, presented
Songs Without Words
(1997) at Iowa State University. The chamber opera
Laughing
in Jericho (1997) was introduced by Golden Fleece,
Ltd., Lou Rodgers, director, and Gary Schneider, conductor,
at the Sanford Meisner Theater, New York, NY.
Performances
On a University of Northern Iowa program, soprano Amanda
Geyer and cellist Jonathan Chenoweth performed
Four
Songs by Blake (1990). Guitarist Mathew Daniels played
Ashmere and Birnam Wood (1981) at Louisiana State University.
Jean McDonald, soprano, and Robin Guy, piano, gave a performance
of
Black Water (1995) at Wartburg College, in Waverly,
IA. As part of the Iowa Composers Forum, held at Hoyt
Sherman Place Auditorium in Des Moines, IA, Sadilek, George
Work, and William David presented
Gemini (1996).
