A Lawrence, KS resident, John W. Pozdro
is retired from teaching at the University of Kansas.
He has a commission from ACME Carillon Publications
for an original carillon work. Recently, listings about
him have been published in Who's Who in America,
43rd edition; and the Dictionary of International
Biography, 27th edition.
Performances
1998 performances of the carillon piece
Winds of Autumn occurred at the International
Carillon Festival, at Rees Memorial Carillon, Springfield,
IL, with Albert Gerken (May 31); and at Culver (IN)
Military Academy, with John Gouwens (May 14). In 1998,
Triptych, for carillon, was played by Gerken
at the University of Kansas (Feb.), in Centralia, IL
(June 14), at the Spring Carillon Festival in Ames Iowa
(Apr. 25), and at the Parliament Bell Tower in Ontario
(Aug.); and by Gouwens at Culver Military Academy (Aug.
2 and Sept. 5). Gouwens also presented Landscape
I at Culver Military Academy, Jan. 18 and July 4,
1998. The Ouachita Baptist University American Music
Series included pianist David Wehr performing Ballade-Fantasy,
Nov. 10, 1998 in Arkadelphia, AR.
