K Marie Stolba
K Marie Stolba is a resident of Fort
Wayne, IN, where she is Professor Emerita at Indiana
Univ.-Purdue Univ. Fort Wayne (IPFW) and serves as Music
Director at North Highlands Presbyterian Church. She
is also Visiting Distinguished Lecturer at Colorado
Christian University, in Lakewood, CO. She is working
on a book, commissioned by SAI, about the group's centennial
history. In 1998, she spoke on "Music and the Art of
Marc Chagall," at IPFW (Mar. 30) and at the University
of Florida, in Gainesville (Mar. 16); on "The Influence
of Women in the History of Music," the keynote address
at the Second International Festival of Women Composers,
held at the University of Florida (Mar. 13); and on
"Women in the History of Music -- The Feminine Influence,"
at SAI State Day, held at Valparaiso (IN) Univ. (Mar.
28). She has written Pan Pipes articles "New
and Newer Music in Cleveland," (Winter 1998) and "Greetings
from Prague!" (Fall 1998). On Mar. 12-17, 1998, she
had a one-week residency at the University of Florida.
New works include Prophecy, an anthem for solo
baritone, SAB choir, and keyboard; Communion Meditation,
for piano or organ; and Communion Meditation;
for mezzo-soprano and piano.
Premieres
On Sept. 13, 1998, the organ version
of Reflections received its first performance
from Fritz Gingrich at the Crescent Avenue United Methodist
Church.
Performances
The North Highlands Presbyterian Church
continues to perform Stolba's anthem Homage,
for SAB choir, violin, and organ during Advent Season,
by request of the choir.
