a song cycle for mezzo-soprano or baritone and piano,
was heard first at the Church of the Epiphany, Washington,
DC, with Patricia Green accompanied by the composer.

In 1998,
I Never Saw Another Butterfly (poems by
children killed in the Holocaust), for voice and alto
saxophone, had performances at Baylor University, in Waco,
TX, with soprano Christine Schadeberg and Michael Jacobson
(Feb. 1); at the North American Saxophone Alliance, held
at Northwestern University, with soprano Sandra McClain
and Carolyn Bryan (Mar. 26); at Georgia Southern University,
in Statesboro, GA, with McClain and Bryan (May 24); and
at Michigan State University, with soprano Patricia Green
and James Forger. A program at the Jewish Community Center
of Greater Washington, in Rockville, MD, featured

Love Poems of Marichiko, for cello and voice, with
Laurie Barnet and Pamela Jordan Schiffer, Mar. 28, 1998.
The Lyra Ensemble played
Images, for flute, cello,
and harp, at the Kennedy Center, in Washington, DC, Jan.
17, 1998 and Apr. 19, 1998. In 1998,
Rokudan-Flute
and Blossom, for koto and flute, was performed by
Miyuki Yoshikami and Sharon Grotto at Gettysburg (PA)
Coll. (Sept. 1) and in Fort Belvoir, VA (May 28); and
by Yoshikami and Laitman at the Ellipse Gallery, in Arlington,
VA (Oct. 15).
