Annual American Composers Update

Leon Stein

Leon Stein lives in Laguna Hills, CA. On June 27, 1998, the Berlin (Germany) Radio Orchestra, Stephen Gunzenhaauser, guest conductor, made a CD recording of Three Hassidic Dances for a 1999 release.

Performances

Conducted by Dr. Noreen Green, the Jewish Symphony Orchestra presented Hassidic Dance No. 1: "Dance of the Joyous". Samuel Thaviu, violin; David Pituch, alto saxophone, and Yamada-Selvagio, piano, performed Trio Concertante for Violin, Saxophone, and Piano, Apr. 6 at the Chicago Public Library's Harold Washington Center. On a "Wind Music from the U.S.A." program, held June 2, 1998 in Berlin's Philharmonie Kammermusiksaal, Christian Peters, Franke Steiner, Martin Kögel, Bernhard Nusser, Peter Utecht, and Barnabas Kubina played Sextet for E-Flat Alto Saxophone and Woodwind Quintet.
