Annual American Composers Update

Minuetta Kessler

SAI Patroness Minuetta Kessler resides in Belmont, MA. She is working on her opera about the Doukhobors of Canada. On May 4, 1997, the University of San Francisco (CA) radio station KUSF-FM's "Fighting Back" program about the Doukhobors included an interview with her about the opera.

Performances

A WGBH (Boston) radio celebration of International Women's Day featured Alberta Concerto, with Helena Vesterman, piano soloist, Mar. 8, 1996. Pianist Erlinda Salazar McGinty played Etude Brilliante at the Rockland Memorial Library, in Massachusetts. At the New York State Composers Fest, held May 5, 1996 at Orange County Community College, Middletown, NY, Kim Yeong Yamamoto presented A Day in the Park (Op. 30), Let's Go to the Park, and Come Home. A concert with Kessler, piano, and Anna Gabrieli, soprano, assisted by pianist Brian Moll, included Songs of Western Canada, Songs by Sara Teasdale from Song Cycle, and Etude Brilliante. Yolande Uyttenhove's piano recitals in Belgium included A Midnight Encounter, Dec. 10, 1996 and June 21-22, 1997.
