Annual American Composers Update
Richard Lane
Richard Lane lives and works in Paterson, NJ, and spends
summers in Cape Cod, writing and accompanying singers
and instrumentalists. Recently, he worked with the Ridgewood,
NJ schools in performances of "made-to-order" compositions
at their spring concerts. He finished writing
Air Apparent,
for flute and concert band, for an Apr. 1999 premiere.
Premieres
Squibnocket Trio, for clarinet, bassoon, and piano,
was introduced by Duckham, Gallagher, and Banner at Orleans
(MA) Concerts at Crossroads, Sept. 1998. In July 1998,
Short Suite, for flute, violin, and cello, received
its premiere in Milford, PA.
Jazz-a-Ma-Tazz was
heard first at the Orchard School, in Ridgewood, May 20,
1998.
Performances
On May 1, The Ridgewood Chorale, led by Marjorie Vandervoort,
sang
Songs of Innocence. A Steinway Showcase featured
Patricia Davila and Ron Levy in Lane's
Flute Sonata
No. 6, June 5, 1998 in Paramus, NJ. A performance
in Weinfelder, Gemany included
Quartet for Saxophones,
with Klingen-Schmid, May 8.
