Ursula Mamlok
A New York, NY resident, Ursula Mamlok spends summers
in San Mateo, CA. Her
String Quartet No. 1 (1962)
received a positive review in
The New York Times,
Aug. 31, 1998. The San Francisco Contemporary Players
are planning to perform her
Sextet, for flute,
clarinet, bass clarinet, violin, bass viol, and piano,
in Apr. 1999. On Oct. 17, 1998, the League of Composers/International
Society for Contemporary Music held a benefit dinner in
her honor, including a concert at the Miller Theatre,
in New York City.

will be releasing an all-Mamlok CD, including
Constellations,
with the Seattle Symphony, under Gerard Schwarz;
Der
Andreas Garten, with the Jubal Trio;
Girasol
and
Polarities, with Parnassus; and
String Quartet
No. 2, with the Cassatt Quartet.

Stray Birds, for soprano, flute, and cello,
Jan. 27, 1998 at Merkin Hall, in New York. As part of
the Museum of Modern Art's "Music in a Summer Garden"
series, the Flux Quartet presented Mamlok's
String
Quartet No. 1, Aug. 28-29 in New York. On Feb. 1,
1999, Ensemble 21 will perform
Rhapsody, for clarinet,
viola, and piano, at Merkin Hall, in New York.
